The beautiful old pier at Saltburn-on-sea which was opened in 1869 and is the last remaining pier in Yorkshire. Leading down to it is the Saltburn Cliff lift constructed in 1884 and the oldest operating water-balance cliff lift in the United Kingdom.

The well known seaside village of Staithes is most often shot as a wide panoramic view of the village alongside the beck and the sea but there is some splendid detail to be found in the village houses.
